Every engine in the game, era by era: freight engines are rated by tractive force, passenger trains by capacity, and research unlocks them.
Engines are either freight engines, rated by how many waggons they can pull (tractive force), or passenger trains, rated by how many passengers they carry. Each era brings new ones, unlocked with research points from the Laboratory. At the end of every era except the last, a coupling system lets engines carry the goods of the next era.
Each engine also has a type that suits a use:
Some engines take several slots, such as Morphée (2), Poséidon (3), Centaure (4) and Olympe (5) for freight.
Upgrades raise speed, acceleration and reliability. Research the upgrade first, then select the train in the train list and click Upgrade: upgrades are installed by hand. After adding waggons, reset the train's schedule so it uses its new capacity.
Click a train, choose New or Edit schedule, pick the loading and delivery points (up to 10 stops), then confirm. Stopping at industries between the loading and delivery points cuts waiting times and raises earnings; remember to reload there if the delivery continues. The timetable calculator of the Plus Account estimates earnings per hour.
On a short route a train has little time to accelerate, and a train in poor condition runs slower: service your trains and prefer longer routes.
The Engine house sets how many trains run at the same time, and the museum stores the others. Bonus engines take no slot.
