Research

Research unlocks new engines and their upgrades. Without it, you quickly fall behind.

How it works

• Research points are produced by the Laboratory of your station.
• Open the Research menu with the button on the right of the screen: engines of the current era, progress in past and future eras, available points and how fast they come.
• Click an engine for its details (stats, costs, upgrades) and invest points in it or its upgrades.
• A locked engine needs certain upgrades of earlier engines, shown by thick white arrows.
• Once researched, an upgrade must be installed by hand on the train.

The Researcher

At the bottom right of the Research menu. Hired, he raises research point production by 25% for 24 hours, for 40 gold; he is included in the Plus Account.

Tips from the official help

• Only research what you really need, and plan each era ahead.
• Research points have a cap: spend them regularly. Starter and era packs fill the bar, so spend before buying one.
• Save points at the end of an era for the next era's engines.
• If you join a round late, research the current era's engines directly.
